Just like any other necessary dental procedure1 , you can get your wisdom teeth removed during pregnancy.

The real question becomes do you need to do it? If the wisdom teeth are coming in fine or are fully erupted and without complication, you can wait until after your pregnancy to get them removed. If they’re impacted and causing significant discomfort, then you should get them taken out. Additionally, if there’s an infection, you need to get them removed, as untreated dental infections can increase risks to the pregnancy.

The local anesthesia used during this surgery is safe and, in most cases, the sedation that dental surgeons offer is safe as well. Any x-ray imaging needed to help with the diagnosis is also safe during the pregnancy, as the radiation level is low and they’ll provide a lead apron to protect your abdomen.
