The good news is, yes, you can take amoxicillin while breastfeeding!

Amoxicillin is an antibiotic that's usually used to fight off bacterial infections, kind of like a superhero of the drug world. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, it's generally safe for use during breastfeeding. This is because only a tiny amount of the drug makes its way into breast milk1

Studies2  also found that amoxicillin levels in breast milk are so low that they're unlikely to cause any harmful effects to a nursing infant. So, while you're busy fighting off that pesky infection, your baby can still enjoy their meal times worry-free!

As always, though, don't forget to consult your healthcare provider before taking any new medication.
