Due to inconclusive findings, adaptogens should be avoided during pregnancy.

Adaptogens are naturally occurring substances that may help your body respond to stress by promoting feelings of physiological balance during taxing events. Examples of naturally occurring adaptogens include ginseng, ashwagandha, goji berry, licorice root, and turmeric. Synthetic versions are also available in supplement form.

All adaptogens offer different potential stress-relieving benefits, but research and findings on the safety of takin gherbal supplements during pregnancy remains inconclusive. For this reason, it’s generally advised not to take any herbal supplements, including adaptogens, during this time.
